Silverton Summer Youth Program:

Silverton Summer Youth Program registration will take place, Sunday, June 5, from 5-7 p.m. at the school modular unit on the corner of 11th and Snowden. Come meet the interns for the year, enroll in the summers activities and enjoy some refreshments.

The Silverton Summer Youth Program (SSYP) serves the town of Silverton and visitors with reliable childcare for eight weeks during the summer season. The program will run Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. starting June 7th ending July 29th.

Children receive quality arts instruction with emphasis in theatre, fine arts, dance, storytelling and recreation.

Fridays are designated as field trip/enrichment days where children visit various sites throughout Southwestern Colorado. The program concludes with a full production in the A Theatre Group‘s New Artists Series.

ATG employs four college interns who major in theater to instruct children ranging in age from 5-12. Junior intern positions are available to teens ranging in age from 13-19. Junior interns receive advanced theatre training, while serving as counselors and mentors to the younger children.

Amber Moffett will again be the SSYP Director this year, assisted by returning college interns, Matthew Casey, Randi Foster and Sinjin Jones.

  • Fees: $320 for each child and a family rate of $130 for each additional child.
  • Visiting Children: $30 per day or $100 per week.
  • Camp includes a supervised lunch and two quality snack periods. SSYP will provide juice and snacks.
